These tend to jump out at me, either in terms of atmosphere or location…
Earlsfort Terrace (might not be suitable for office space though or creativity)
Mercer St
John Rogerson’s Quay (second)
Princes St (would need to see inside)

Great range of potential properties.

Being right in the centre of town would be important to me. Would want to feel in the heart of the action, which is part of the reason for looking for a shared working venue.

Good choices would be Clarendon St, Wicklow St, Capel Building, Great Strand St.

There’s something about the Great Strand Street location and space that just screams good atmosphere to me.

Any one of a number of place in the list above would seem suitable to me. I’ve got to say the buildings in Kingram place and Princes Street look like they have real character. The places in Earlsfort Terrace and Harcourt Road would be most accessible for me when driving. While the places along the Luas Red line would otherwise suit me. Places which don’t suite me are primarily those on the northern side at a distance from the Luas.

Hi Niall, I made the trip from Limerick to be at the Fumbally lane event because the energy of the group is just rubbing off on me and I had to see it in action. I actually thought the location was wonderful but obviously my needs could be quite different to the majority of users.

I’ve been involved in initiatives of a similar nature before where nothing ever happened in the end but I know for certain that Dublin Hub *will* happen because there’s just too many good people beavering away behind the scenes and the enthusiasm in unwavering.

Thanks for your comments, as always.

As Patrick says, there were some who thought the location was a little too far from the city centre, and it’s hard to know how many others thought the same and voted with their feet. I like the place, it has a good atmosphere and we could do some good things with it… but if not enough people turn up, it doesn’t matter what it looks like or how it feels.

The sound issue can’t be ignored either. I don’t expect everyone to be carrying out loud conversations with their hard-of-hearing grannies all at the same time, but some arrangement would have to be made for conversation. We need inventive solutions – half-height partitions, variable height / mobile partitions, sound dampening interior decoration… let the creativity out…

We expect to make a few mistakes in this little adventure, but I’m not sure we have the luxury of making the wrong decision regarding the location.
